Certified Food Protection Courses at Gator Chef are available to be taught in English and Spanish. The test can be requested to be taken in other languages upon request.

Under the Food Handling Regulation Enforcement Act (410 ILCS 625), Illinois requires foodservice establishments to have at least one certified food protection manager present on all shifts that involve food. This person is responsible for overseeing the food handling and preparation process to prevent occurrences of food-borne illness.
For Illinois, if you have a soon-to-expire IL FSSMC (Food Service Sanitation Manager) certification as of January 1, 2018, Illinois has done away with the FSSMC, so you will need to take an ANSI accredited CFPM course and Exam.
To obtain certification, the City of Chicago requires an additional application and separate fee paid directly to the city.

An eight-hour ANSI-CFP approved course with a curriculum created by the National Environmental Health Association must be complete to become certified. The Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) course is taught with interactive activities and demonstrations to enhance learning.
The course fee for ServSafe CFPM classes includes the course, advanced study materials, the exam and certificate.
