Gator Chef has partnered with Food Safety and Environmental Solutions to offer ANSI accredited Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) courses and Exam certification at Gator Chef's Lisle Illinois Restaurant Equipment and Kitchen Supplies Store. Food Safety and Environmental Solutions offers professional food safety training that focuses on your organization's practical and proven safe food handling practices. In addition, all Health Departments in Illinois and Nationally accept their American National Standards Institute-Conference for Food Protection (ANSI-CFP) approved Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) course and Exam.
Under the Food Handling Regulation Enforcement Act (410 ILCS 625), Illinois
requires foodservice establishments to have at least one certified food protection manager present on
all shifts that involve food. This person is responsible for overseeing the food handling and preparation
process to prevent occurrences of food-borne illness.
For Illinois, if you have a soon-to-expire IL FSSMC (Food Service Sanitation Manager) certification as of January 1, 2018, Illinois has done away with the FSSMC, so you will need to take an ANSI accredited CFPM course and Exam.
Our Certified Food Protection Manager courses and Exam are valid for Restaurants and other Foodservice Establishments in The City of Chicago. To obtain certification, the City of Chicago requires an additional application and separate fee paid directly to the city.
An eight-hour ANSI-CFP approved course with a curriculum created by the
National Environmental Health Association must be complete to become certified. The Certified Food
Protection Manager (CFPM) course is taught with interactive activities and demonstrations to enhance
learning. Topics covered include Foodborne Illness, Food Safety Education, Safe Food Handling, Cross
Contamination, HACCP, Facilities and Equipment, Integrated Pest Management, Food Safety
Regulations, and more.
Certified Food Protection Courses at Gator Chef are available in English and Spanish.
A Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) certification requires a proctored
exam. All our exam administrators are certified exam proctors. As a prerequisite to taking the Certified
Food Protection Manager (CFPM) Exam, you must take an eight-hour ANSI-CFP approved CFPM course.
The minimum requirement to pass the Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) Exam is a 70% grade.
Exams may be taken as many times as needed within 1-year of taking the CFPM pre-exam course to
achieve a passing grade. The standard Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) Exam used is from the
Nationally approved testing provider Prometric. We also offer ServSafe© Exams for an additional fee.
Certified Food Protection Manager Exams are available in English, Spanish, Korean, Modern Chinese, or Traditional Chinese.
