Illinois Requirements

Under the Food Handling Regulation Enforcement Act (410 ILCS 625), Illinois requires foodservice establishments to have at least one certified food protection manager present on all shifts that involve food. This person is responsible for overseeing the food handling and preparation process to prevent occurrences of food-borne illness.
For Illinois, if you have a soon-to-expire IL FSSMC (Food Service Sanitation Manager) certification as of January 1, 2018, Illinois has done away with the FSSMC, so you will need to take an ANSI accredited CFPM course and Exam.

Chicago Requirements

Our Certified Food Protection Manager courses and Exam are valid for Restaurants and other Foodservice Establishments in The City of Chicago. To obtain certification, the City of Chicago requires an additional application and separate fee paid directly to the city.
